Knee pain physiotherapy treatment Liverpool Western Sydney Vital Action Physio

Does your Knee hurt?

Knee pain spans for a wide range of patients starting from junior athletes at Liverpool's sporting clubs dealing with Osgood-Schlatter or a first ACL injury, to adults with patellofemoral pain from increased running load, to older residents managing knee osteoarthritis affecting their daily walking and independence.

Most knee pain involves some degree of muscle weakness or imbalance around the joint. Addressing the joint alone without the surrounding muscle system rarely leads to lasting results. Our lead physiotherapist holds a Titled Sports Physiotherapist qualification — two years of post-graduate training beyond a standard degree — making complex knee management, particularly ACL rehabilitation, a genuine specialisation. ✅ACL injuries: Complete pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation programs using evidence-based progressive loading with objective return-to-sport criteria.

✅Meniscus injuries: Tears from acute twisting or degenerative changes. Many respond well to physiotherapy without surgery.

✅Patellofemoral pain (runner's knee): Pain around or behind the kneecap from overloading. Common in runners, cyclists and people who have recently increased activity.

✅ITB syndrome: Iliotibial band friction on the outside of the knee. Most common overuse injury in runners. Responds to hip strengthening and load management.

✅Patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee): Common in basketball, volleyball and football. Requires specific progressive tendon loading protocols.

✅Knee osteoarthritis: Exercise therapy is one of the most effective treatments — more so than most people expect.

✅Osgood-Schlatter disease: Growth-related condition in active adolescents 10 to 15 years. Managed with load modification and strengthening.
